History

Knife Edge Brewing, founded in 2022, is a brewery built to celebrate heritage and adventure in the Katahdin region. Brewed at the base of Katahdin on the shore of Millinocket Lake, each beer reflects a natural landmark, trail, adventure, or piece of history in the heart of Maine’s iconic forests.

Knife Edge Brewing is committed to making beer using 100% renewable energy. We meet that goal with a 135 Kilowatt solar array and an all electric brewery and building. We brew with sustainably sourced and where practical, Maine ingredients, serving beer that tastes great and feels good. Knife Edge Brewing supports nonprofits in the region that advance the health and well-being of the community, primarily through outdoor adventure. Knife Edge beer is more than just a beer, it’s an investment in the people, trails, and wild places of the Katahdin region.

*Directions* Head towards Baxter State Park on the Lake Road, and turn right opposite the Deep Cove Road crossover. There is signage on the main road. Drive just under one mile through the woods, and you are there!

We have a network of single track mountain bike trails, Cross Country ski trails and walking and running trails on site. We are just off of Maines ITS trail system and on the way to and from the south entrance of Baxter State Park.

We are only a few miles from the world class whitewater of the West Branch of the Penobscot. We are just outside the south Entrance to Baxter State Park and close to the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. We are just off the Golden Road on and the gateway to the Allagash and Northern Maine woods.

Our staff can offer lots of ideas for hiking, fishing, boating and snowmobiling off site. Snowmobile, cross country ski and fat bike rentals are available in the winter, canoe and touring kayak rentals, stand up paddle boards, fat bikes, and whitewater rafting are available on-site in the summer.
